Year 2020 was a bit different from other years due to arrival of global pandemic coronavirus. Corona had a strong impact on sales figures of almost every industry.

Following are top 5 Indian companies on the basis of no. of desktops or laptops sold by them in the year 2020.
1 ) Hewlett Packard (HP) :- HP sold 2.95 million PCs and enjoyed a market share of 28.7 % in 2020. This performance was better than 2019, when it sold 2.9 million PCs and had a market share of 26.5 % .
2 ) Dell Technologies :- Dell sold 2.38 million PCs and had a market share of 23.2 % in year 2020. Sales of dell also jumped a lot, as it has sold 2.17 million PCs in 2019 with a market share of 19.8 % .
3 ) Lenovo :- Lenovo sold 2.22 million PCs and had a market share of 21.7 % in the year 2020. It saw a big decline in its sales, as it had sold 3.5 million PCs in 2019, and had a market share of 32 % .
Lenovo became the biggest looser this year, as it lost the top spot, due to reduction of more than 1.2 million sales and due to loosing more than 10% of its overall market share in the PC industry of India .
4 ) Acer :- Acer sold 1 million PCs and had a market share of 9.8 % in the year 2020. It had sold 1.23 million units in 2019, and had a market share of 11.2 % .
5 ) Asus :- Asus sold 645 thousand PCs and had a market share of 6.3 % in the year 2020. It had sold 373 thousand PCs in 2019, and had a market share of 3.4 % in the year 2019. So, it is one of those brands which saw a big jump in its sales during last 1 year.
6 Others :- All other brands sold 1.1 million PCs and had a market share of 10.3 % in the year 2020. Other brands had sold 782 thousand units in 2019 and had a market share of 7.1 % in 2019.
So, a good thing is that PCs of remaining brands also saw a big growth in last 1 year. It naturally provides more options to people, and help them in choosing a better device according to their specific requirement.
Overall sales during the year 2020 were around 10.27 million units, which is roughly 6% less than 10.98 million units sold in 2019.
Overall, it can be said that due to coronavirus pandemic, PC industry of India also suffered a bit, but its losses are nowhere close to the problems faced by many other industries like hotel, cinema, and education.
But, now by the end of year 2021, coronavirus seems to be coming to an end, due to which future seems brighter for everyone.
Most experts have predicted that due to rapid economic growth , demand of laptops and mobiles will grow manifold in next 10 years, and upcoming years can be very positive for the PC market of India.
Nothing can be said firmly about the future, but on the basis of experts’ opinions it seems that after 2 tough years, some better years are waiting for the Indian PC industry.
